A social enterprise is an organization operating as a business that pursues a social mission and fully or partially reinvests its profits with the goal of achieving social goals. The enterprises taking part in the fair create a significant social benefit and employ individuals representing various vulnerable groups, including people with special needs, vulnerable youth, single mothers, etc.
The Europe Foundation has been working on the development of social entrepreneurship since 2009. To create success stories of cooperation among sectors, the Europe Foundation, within the scope of the Social Enterprise Development program, conducts many similar events every year. This fair is also an example of such cooperation. The aim of the event is to increase public awareness of social entrepreneurship by informing as many people as possible about the contribution of social enterprises toward the development of a truly inclusive society.
The Social Enterprises Alliance was founded by the Centre for Strategic Research and Development of Georgia (CSRDG) and six social enterprises in 2016. The mission of the Alliance is to create a favorable environment for the development of social entrepreneurship, that ensures the sustainability of existing social enterprises and facilitates the emergence of new social enterprises. The Alliance is a unified platform of social enterprises set to protect the common interests of the members, promote the sector, share experience, and develop effective mechanisms of cooperation between sectors.
